- The Magnitude of God’s Love
- God’s love is universal. God’s love is not limited to one nation, race or group of people; It is for the entire world, every individual.
- God’s Love is unconditional: God loved us while we were still sinners and rebels against Him.
- Recognize that you are included in that “world.” God knows your past, your present, and loves you no matter what.
- The Demonstration of God’s Love
- The Sacrifice: This highlights the immense cost of God’s love. God gave His Son.
- The Contrast: Human love has limits, we can barely imagine sacrificing our own child for someone else, especially for those who don’t deserve it.
- The Purpose: Jesus willingly took the impact and punishment for our sins on the cross, making a way for reconciliation with God the Father. Christmas is the beginning of that sacrificial journey.
- The Response to God’s Love
- A condition free offer but it requires a response. The gift is free but it must be received. Salvation is a gift of grace, not something earned by good works or religious practice.
- Authentic Belief. Belief is more that intellectual assent. It means trusting in, relying on, and clinging to Jesus. It involves turning from doing life our own way and submitting to Christ as Lord.
- The Assurance of God’s Love
- The negative result (shall not perish). God’s love provides an escape from eternal destruction and judgment, which we deserve because of our sin.
- The positive result (have eternal life). Eternal life is not just unending future existence; it is a quality of life characterized by an intimate relationship with God. It brings peace, joy, purpose and hope.
