- God’s Standard: This principle is a mandate from God, and it is a sin to neglect this duty.
- Application: The church has a role to play in caring for its own, but it starts with our own household and families.
- In times of need, the church should serve one another: the church’s ministry to true widows
- I Timothy 5:9-16
- Honor true widows: The church should prioritize those who are truly in need and are in a vulnerable situation.
- Qualities of those to be honored: These women should be at least sixty years old, have been faithful in marriage, and have a reputation for good deeds.
- Service and prayer: Widows who are truly in need can serve the church by prayer and godly example.
