1 Timothy 1:12-20
I. We are to be thankful for God’s grace and the power of the Gospel
I Timothy 1:12
- God has enabled me
- God counted me faithful
- God put me into the ministry
II. Before Jesus, we were enemies of God
I Timothy 1:13a
- In sin, we try to dethrone God and set ourselves up as the King of our own lives. That makes us enemies of God, according to Romans 5:10.
III. Jesus came into the world to save sinners
I Timothy 1:13-16
- There is no sin or sinner too far gone that can’t be forgiven and transformed by God’s grace
- We have shallow Christianity today and we don’t value God’s grace the way we should because we have a shallow view of sin
IV. The grace of God continues, so we must protect the gospel
I Timothy 1:17-20
- Some fights are not worth fighting. And how can we tell the difference? Two questions: 1) Will this matter a year from now? And 2) will this distract us from the gospel of Christ?
- Because the Christian faith is worth fighting for. You cannot compromise your Biblical convictions depending on what’s going on either culturally or personally
